What is drop shipping?

Simply put, a retailer can list/display as many or as few products from a manufacturer as they like without keeping any physical stock. If a customer decides to purchase one of the listed/displayed product(s) the retailer simply informs the manufacturer and the manufacturer sends the item straight to the customers chosen address.

What are the positives and negatives?

Positives:

• Retailers do not have to hold any physical stock or items; this frees up capital to reinvest in other parts of the business and removes the hassle of placing large order quantities.
• Retailers can list / display a larger amount of products for sale. Retailers can pick and choose some / all of a manufacturer’s range of products.
• Product photographs, brochures, descriptions and videos are included for free by the manufacturer.
• No minimum order quantity, individual items can be sent out without placing huge orders.
• Removes the hassle of sending parcels out via courier.
• Paperwork is dealt with for you.

Negatives:

• No physical stock to show customers if bricks and mortar store (however you can also hold stock of popular items).
• An additional admin charge is added to each order.
• Customers cannot buy then and there if buying from bricks and mortar store.

How much does it cost?

There is no added charge for the product, retailers still pay the standard trade price, however there is an added admin fee of £6.75 ex VAT per order to cover the additional admin (this charge includes postage). You can either pay on a proforma basis per order or set up an account with us.

How do I place an order with the manufacturer?

Email, phone or fax. Simply let the manufacturer know  where you are ordering from, what product the customer would like and where they would like it sent to. We will take care of the rest.
